Ananta: NetEase's Open-World RPG Unveiled
NetEase Games and Naked Rain's previously enigmatic Project Mugen has officially been revealed as Ananta, an urban, open-world RPG. A new PV and teaser trailer offer a closer look at the game's world, characters, and gameplay.
The trailer showcases Nova City, a sprawling metropolis serving as the game's setting. Players will encounter a diverse cast of characters and face the looming threat of chaotic forces from another realm.
While comparisons to MiHoYo's titles, particularly Zenless Zone Zero, are inevitable, Ananta distinguishes itself with impressive movement mechanics. The PV highlights dynamic traversal, raising questions about the extent of free-roaming exploration within Nova City – will movement be restricted to specific areas, or will it offer truly Spider-Man-esque freedom?
Ananta blends appealing character designs with visually striking combat, aligning with current trends in 3D RPGs. Whether it can successfully compete with established giants in the 3D gacha RPG market remains to be seen. However, its unique movement system and distinct visual style offer a promising alternative.

Dynamic Movement Takes Center Stage
The PV's most striking element is the fluid and impressive movement showcased. The extent of explorable space and the level of freedom in traversing Nova City are yet to be fully revealed.
While similarities to MiHoYo's games exist, Ananta's potential lies in its ability to carve its own niche. Its success will depend on whether it can stand apart from the competition and potentially challenge the dominance of current 3D gacha RPGs.
