Application Description
Unleash your keys! Embrace the power of open-source with Keymapper, where you can remap a variety of hardware buttons to enhance your device's functionality. You can remap fingerprint gestures on supported devices, volume buttons, navigation buttons, and even keys on Bluetooth or wired keyboards. Additionally, buttons on other connected devices should also be compatible. However, keep in mind that only hardware buttons can be remapped, and there's no guarantee that all buttons will work. This app is not designed for controlling games, and your device's OEM or vendor may block certain buttons from being remapped.
Keymapper allows you to combine multiple keys from a specific device or across devices to create a "trigger." Each trigger can perform multiple actions, with keys being pressed simultaneously or in sequence. You can set keys to respond to short presses, long presses, or double presses. Furthermore, you can apply "constraints" to a keymap, making it active only under specific conditions.
However, there are some limitations. You cannot remap the power button, Bixby button, mouse buttons, or the d-pad, thumb sticks, or triggers on game controllers. Additionally, your key maps won't function if the screen is off due to Android's limitations, and there's nothing the developer can do about this.
With Keymapper, you can remap your keys to perform a wide range of actions. Some features require a rooted device and specific Android versions. For a comprehensive list of actions, visit https://docs.keymapper.club/user-guide/actions.
Regarding permissions, you don't need to grant all of them for the app to function. The app will inform you if a permission is necessary for a specific feature. The Accessibility Service is crucial for remapping to work, as it enables the app to listen to and block key events. Device Admin permission is required to turn off the screen, Modify System Settings to adjust brightness and rotation, and Camera permission to control the flashlight. Be aware that on some devices, enabling the Accessibility Service might disable "enhanced data encryption."
